DIY Mommy and Me Best Friends Jackets {NYFW Inspired}
After seeing this photo of Shea Marie and Caroline Vreeland from NYFW floating around all over the internet and showing up in my Pinterest feed, I knew I just had to recreate some of these matching best friends jackets for Everly and I. Such a cute keepsake to have and something I will always cherish, and how awesome would it be if one day, many years from now, Everly took some of these photos with her own little girl? One can dream right? 🙂
Two moto jackets in your sizes (I purchased mine from Forever 21 for around $35, similar available here & here; & Ev’s is H&M but I found it used on eBay for $25, similar available here)
Heart template (I just Googled it and chose an image I liked)
Scissors to cut template
Chalk pencil for tracing
Ruler (to make heart bigger if template is smaller than desired)
These were pretty straight forward to make, but the hardest part was definitely scaling the hearts to size. I printed my half on a full sheet of printer paper and Ev’s on half of a sheet. I decided I wanted them a little bigger than the template and I also wanted that elementary “I drew this on my best friends binder” sort of look (because I think it makes it look more authentic), so I used the ruler to eyeball around my template and mark it with a chalk pencil. Then I just traced over my line with a sharpie paint pen, let it dry (it dries almost instantly but I waited an hour just to be sure), and then wrote the letters in the middle. Let it dry and they are ready to wear!
She had slept in the car so she mostly wanted to snuggle, which I’m always okay with 😉
P.s. I loved how these turned out so much, I made one for her twin brother too! I’ll be posting pics soon! They look SERIOUSLY adorable in them!
